AMIDA TRAINING PROGRAMMES
REGULATIONS FOR FULL TIME STUDENTS ATTENDANCE

Students of Amida Trust may be registered as full or part time. The majority of students on Amida courses are part time, but students may be accepted as full time where they meet the following criteria:

Residential Full Time Students (Advanced Certificate and Diploma Programmes)
- Live in the Buddhist House community or another Amida centre for at least thirty five weeks of each calendar year.
- Attend course blocks appropriate to their course of study totalling at least fifty four days from designated course blocks (six blocks or equivalent; 378 hours)
- In addition to the above, attend in house seminars, classes and tutorials to a minimum of five hours per week whilst resident
- Participate in private study as required by the course using library facilities within the house
- Attend community meetings
- Participate in day to day activities in the house

Non-Residential Full Time Students (Advanced Certificate and Diploma Programmes)
- Live within a forty mile radius of The Buddhist House or other Amida course centre.
- Supply evidence of residential address before Full Time status is confirmed. (overseas students will be offered a full time place after interview, but this place will be withdrawn unless evidence of address is supplied at registration.)
- Attend course blocks appropriate to their course of study totalling at least seventy two days from designated course blocks (eight blocks or equivalent; 504 hours)
- In addition to the above, attend in house seminars, classes and tutorials to a minimum of two hours per week during term time
- Participate in private study as required by the course using library facilities within the house

Full Time Students on Volunteer Programmes
- Live in The Buddhist House community during their initial training period (minimum eight weeks).
- Attend 52 days of intensive training during this time (416 hours)
- Attend placement in UK or overseas for minimum of five months.
- Whilst on placement work in supervised volunteer setting. Volunteers are normally entitled to six free days per month.
- Return to The Buddhist House for a final debriefing period (minimum two weeks).
- Volunteer programme participants who wish to convert their volunteer experience to a Masters degree may agree an additional period of residency at The Buddhist House in order to undertake study towards their thesis. During this time they will be expected to attend tutorials and participate in house seminars and events.

Noviciate Trainees
- Live in the Buddhist House community or other Amida centres for at least forty eight weeks of each calendar year.
- Attend spiritual practice unless otherwise directed
- Attend course blocks as appropriate to their Buddhist training
- Attend all in house seminars, classes and spiritual interviews which take place whilst they are in the house, unless they are otherwise required
- Participate in private study as suggested by their spiritual director using library facilities within the house
- Attend community meetings and practice seminars
- Participate in day to day activities in the house, often in designated training role
- Make visits and take up placements in accordance with training needs as required by the community
- Live within the religious rule of the order

Procedural Notes:
- Date of registration will be agreed at interview.
- Registration may be for one or two years initially, depending on the course being taken. (Advanced Certificate, 1 year; Diploma Programme, 2 years)
- Full time students will be expected to attend at the above rates from the date of registration.
- Students who do not attend at the above rate will be sent a warning letter after a week of unauthorised absence. Should they then fail to attend at the agreed rate, or give adequate explanation for their absence, a student will be deemed to have become a part time student.
- Where a student changes from full to part time status, Amida Trust may inform relevant authorities of this fact.
